Echoes of the Maestro

Echoes of the Maestro – Song 65 – Thaanandhana Kummi kotti

Athisaya Piravi is one of those rare fantasy films that came in Tamil during those days and it is a remake of a Telugu film Yamudiki Mogudu which had Chiranjeevi helming the lead role. Telugu Directors are always good with adding fantasy elements into their stories while S.P. Muthraman adapted to tamil brilliantly.

When I was a kid like many other kids I would go visit my Granny and on one such holiday there was low voltage power and only the TV was working. My maternal uncle being an ardent Thalaivar fan stumbled upon this movie on Sun TV and that’s how I discovered this film, most of the scenes are still fresh in my memory, however, the songs were a bit blurry. I actually thought Thaanandhana Kummi Kotti belonged in the Ramarajan universe and I haven’t watched the song at all but have heard numerous times though. It was a pleasant surprise to see Rajnikanth dance to this song.
