Echoes of the Maestro

Echoes of the Maestro – Song 52 – Anbe Nee enna

Sometime back when I wrote about a song from the Movie Pandiyan, I mentioned that it is one of the GOAT albums from Illayaraja during the 90s, and here’s another favorite song of mine which not only captures the stylish Rajnikanth but also the ever-gorgeous Kushboo.

In the typical Illayaraja fashion, this song starts off as a Melody with the orchestra of Instruments while the drums play an important role and towards the last Pallavi, he smoothly shifts to folk and transitions back to the melody.

Interestingly, Pandiyan was released during Diwali 1992 and it fought head-on with Devarmagan, Senthamizh Paatu, Thirumathy Palanisamy, and Rasukutty. The movie didn’t gross well because of the popularity Devarmagan got. Another Interesting fact is that all four movies released on Diwali 1992 had Illayraja composing the songs except for Senthamizh paatu which had the Legendary MSV collaborating with the Maestro.
