Achchani was released in 1978 and directed by Karaikudi Narayanan and the story is based on Narayanan’s Stage play of the same name. A couple of songs are very famous in this album and I’m pretty sure you must have come across this song too. However, this is the first time I’ve listened to it.

Thaalattu as the first line of the song suggests it’s a Thaalattu song which is set in Madyamavathi raaga and in Carnatic Music this is considered to be an auspicious raaga. Every concert ends mostly with a song composed in Madyamavati Raaga, so I heard. Coincidently, tomorrow I’ll be publishing only the playlist of all these 29 songs and I didn’t plan it.
