Palaivana Rojakkal is a remake of the Malayalam Film Vartha. Interestingly, the film’s screenplay was written by the Late Kalingar Karunanidhi, who also produced it. It was a product of your typical Angry hero trope additionally since the heroes of this film are Press reporters, Freedom of Press was the central theme of this film. I don’t know how much Kalingar must have influenced Gangai Amaran, this song itself is very political, and with Illayaraja’s voice, it becomes very evident.
