Vellai Roja directed by A. Jagannathan by is a remake of a 1982 Malayalam film Post Mortem and this movie had Nadigar Thilagam playing dual roles. This movie was released on 4th November 1983 on a Deepavali day and ran for over 100 days. Interestingly, A. Jagannathan’s other film Thanga Magan starring Rajni and Poornima was also released on the same day, we don’t see such instances where a Director’s two movies getting released on the same day and both winning big, these are rarities of 80’s I suppose. Oh! Maanae maanae is such a beautiful love song and I’m sure it is already in many playlists.
