Echoes of the Maestro

Echoes of the Maestro – Song 70 – Amma Endrazhaikaadha

If most of Tamil Cinema and people like me who grew up listening to this song put our Mother on a pedestal this song singlehandedly did that thing. The most popular Mother Sentiment song ever made in the History of Cinema is this and despite all these years this song is still popular and widely celebrated and no one can claim it otherwise.

Mannan was a remake of the 1986 Kannada film Anuraga Aralithu. It is said that when Goundamani was approached for this film, he quoted a salary higher than Rajnikant’s. Eventually, they reached a consensus and agreed on a profit-sharing arrangement. One of the iconic comedy scenes in the film is when Thalaivar and Counter try to buy a ticket for the Chinnathambi film. This scene was said to be based on a real-life incident involving P. Vasu. Interesting, isn’t it?
