Echoes of the Maestro

Echoes of the Maestro – Song 11 – Poonthendrale

Bhuvana Oru Kelvikuri is one of the rarest films in Tamil that changed the trajectory of an actor who we now fondly call Superstar. Until this film, Tamil audiences knew Rajnikant only as a villain actor and this film proved them wrong. The same happened to veteran actor Sivakumar who until this film only acted as Goody Two Shoes and this film showed the audience another side of the actor.

Now to the song which starts with Vaani Jayaram’s NaanaNaana followed by a flute and again when she pronounces Naana Naana we hear jungjujun jungjujun chorus with other instruments joining. The Maestro keeps adding layer upon layer which makes the song a very interesting listen. Is it because this song is set in Ragashree Raga? Maybe some experts can weigh in. 🙂

I’m really not sure if this was a popular song back then but I’ve come across only the other two songs from this album and I’m wondering how I even missed this song for a very long time and oh yet another Legendary Jeyachandran sir’s song in a row which was unexpected. Yaay!!!
